Disable Private Address

By default, iOS will set new wireless networks to use a feature called Private Address. This feature is important on public networks (like restaurants, hotels etc.) to prevent other network users from accessing your device. At the WRDSB our networks do not allow users to use Peer-to-Peer traffic, therefore preventing other users from accessing your device. Additionally, enabling this feature can make troubleshooting and support more difficult.

To disable the Private Address

  1. Open Settings > Wi-Fi, click the info (i) button beside the WRDSB Staff and Students network
  2. Turn off Private Address using the toggle button
    • The device will need to rejoin the network, however, you will not need to enter your login info again
  3. Close the Settings app

The network configuration is now complete.
